Photo Guidelines

Submitting photos may be easy but for taking great pictures you should follow these guidelines for better representation and visual. Of course you would like us (and possibly yourself and others) to see how you have progressed and your photos are your means of reviewing your own progress of regaining your full hair. You can make your photos clear and "picture perfect" by considering the following simple guidelines:

  1. Natural lighting is best. Photos must be taken in a well-lit room without the use of the flash on your camera.

  2. Take your photos in a small room where lighting is adequate and where you have a mirror in which you can look at your reflection and judge your angles.

  3. Lighting should be slightly in front or above the subject to be photographed, in this case your head and hair.

  4. Have a friend take your photos for you. It would be easier and your photos can be taken properly. If you are to take your photos by yourself, have a steady stand for your camera to avoid blurs, set angle of the camera and use the timer feature.

  5. Be consistent. Your photos should be taken on the same angles throughout your documentation process to clearly see the progress.

90 and 40 degrees left and right and 45 degrees left and right are suggested. Face turned slightly downward to show the hairline, chin to chest to see overhead view. Move yourself, there is no need to move the camera.

  6. Use the macro feature on your camera when you need to take close up shots of your hairline or any specific area for more clarity. Use this feature from no more than 2 feet away.

  7. After you are done taking photos and documenting, assess them and see if these photos are clear and of high resolution, consistent and if they provide truthful images of what your hair really looks like, the progress that you have made all throughout.

  8. These photos of your hair must not be re-touched, enhanced or edited (no photoshop, etc.) in any way.

  9. Please supply us with picture legends for each file you submit to us so we can make sense out of it. Thanks

Thanks

7 simple and easy hair care tips

Written by tom Topics: Hair Loss 101, Natural, Treatments

Exactly what the title says (practical for both men and women):

1. Avoid products that make your hair excessively dry or oily. Stay away from gels, waxes, etc. Ask your professional hair stylist about hair dyes and treatments that do not contain damaging chemicals. Use shampoos and conditioners that suit your hair type.

2. Let your hair dry naturally or blow dry using low heat. Do not dry your hair completely as this will result in brittle, fragile tresses. Letting your hair dry naturally (with a help of gentle towel tapping, do not rub too aggressively) saves your hair from breakage and splitting. Remember, hairs are 3x more sensitive when they are wet. Read More »

Hair and Scalp Anatomy: What Causes Hair Loss?

Written by tom Topics: Resources, Uncategorized

It might sound mundane, but learning about the hair and scalp will give us a much better understanding of the physiological mechanisms responsible for Androgenetic Alopecia (pattern hair loss) and will allow you to choose the right products for you and improve your personal system on how to deal with your hair loss situation.

Contrary to popular belief, hair does not just “fall out” of the scalp. Common hair loss is actually caused by a hormone metabolite known as dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Continued exposure to DHT weakens healthy hair follicles that are genetically susceptible to degradation. Over time, the hair shafts produced by these follicles miniaturize until they fail to produce cosmetically significant hair fibers.

The hair follicle is an extremely complex mini-organ that is comprised of many specialized cells and interdependent structures. Read More »

Current Treatments: What You Can Do to Take Control of Your Hair Loss Today

Written by tom Topics: Current Treatments

There is still no “cure” for Androgenetic Alopecia. Although there are many promising treatments currently in development, it is unlikely that any of these therapies will be able to reach the market before a considerable amount of safety trials have been conducted in a controlled and clinical setting. This process takes time. Fortunately, there are several treatment options that are available to temporarily halt hair loss – many of which simultaneously revive, strengthen and nourish existing hair follicles.

We have outlined several these existing therapies, all of which you can use today to take control of your hair loss until superior options become available. Read More »

TRX2 – Why So Silent?

Written by tom Topics: Treatments

It’s no secret that there are dozens of companies profiting from the commercial development of hair loss treatments. Many of these companies are credible, and were designed with the noble intention of alleviating the everyday stresses experienced by hair loss sufferers around the world. Unfortunately, many aren’t.

Trx2 ACell Interview with Dr. Gary Hitzig *Exclusive, Part 1*

Written by admin Topics: Surgical, Treatments, Wnt Neogenesis

Dr. Hitzig ACell interview Part 1 (Part 2 to follow):

Because of its unique ability to heal a variety of full-thickness wounds with no visible scarring, many people in the hair transplant community have been inquiring about the use of ACell MatriStem products during hair restoration procedures.

This recent press release from Dr. Jerry Cooley and Dr. Gary Hitzig indicated that the ECM products developed by ACell, Inc. might indeed be very effective for this purpose. In order to address the growing skepticism/excitement regarding ACell’s ability to heal donor scars and regenerate donor hair, Dr. Gary Hitzig was kind enough to grant RejuveNation Premium Members with an exclusive interview to explain the procedure.

How long have you been experimenting with ACell’s MatriStem products?

Since September 2008, when the FDA approved it for use.

How many patients have you treated?

The initial cohort I treated was between 18 and 20 people. I am currently writing a scientific article based on the results from this group; explaining the rationale behind the unique regenerative process we’ve observed. Once all of the documentation has been organized and all of the patient follow-ups have been completed, the research will be sent to ACell for verification of claims. Publication should follow shortly thereafter.

More recently, however, I’ve been able to treat a slightly larger group with a much wider array of applications. This is the most exciting aspect of my research.
